Thread: Help with drive sharing

i posted beginner got no response. here can shed light on problem.

have installed ubuntu 9.1 , have limited knowledge of linux. got samba installed , set workgroup correctly have problem sharing external hard drives formatted ntfs. plug drive , automounts fine. using gui navigate /media/mcp_backup , right click on drive. under sharing options share drive across network. windows box can see drive when click on don't have permission view contents. seems though automount setting permissions incorrectly. if unmount drive , mount in manually, have no issues sharing windows box. have tried fstab no luck don't know doing. manual workaround works pain , automount allow me share drive across network. help!
