Unable to install component, 'com_install' missing - Joomla! Forum - community, help and support

hi everyone,

i'm new joomla! administration , i'm trying install component & module called 'flexadvert'. i've read online first step installing component go administration interface , go components -> install/uninstall

the problem don't have 'install/uninstall' under components menu. figured out menu option component 'com_install'. question why missing , real question how install can install other modules?

i tried copying directory 'com_flexadvert' components directory. , files mod_flexadvert modules directory, nothing in admin menus flexadvert still.

any guidance appreciated. installation of joomla! "inherited" me previous site admin (whom unreachable), i've since upgraded latest version (joomla! 1.0.12).

are logged in administrator or superadministrator?
only superadmin can install / remove extensions.

could check if necessary joomla files on server?
joomla diagnostics helpful tool check if joomla files have been uploaded correctly
