Thread: Tips for Creative Live! Cam Chat problem?

i attempting run creative live! cam chat webcam on ubuntu 9.10 (for skype). have plugged cam in , under "select webcam" in drop down menu says no webcam has been detected. have looked on supported , unsupported webcam list , exact model isn't shown. considering trying troubleshooting drivers working. recommendations on drivers/methods work cam?

thanks...

ok, cam has mysteriously started working, sorta.
happened notice today red light illuminated on cam. started skype , went video preferences. showed name device(before told me there no supported devices on system). clicked "test video" button, red led light went out , got kind of garbed green image. started cheese , vlc , both displaying cam video perfectly. read ubuntu documentation on webcams , mentioned changing way skype launched solve problem:

go main menu, system, preferences, menus: applications, internet, items: skype, properties, , replace command

bash -c 'ld_preload=/usr/lib/libv4l/v4l1compat.so skype'
i tried no apparent change in behaviour in skype. have read hacked ov51x jpeg driver , claims support camera(the usb lds:041e:405f matches up). should try install driver hack thing when have driver installed works fine? seems problem skype? suggestions?
