Thread: 9.04 to 9.10 upgrade....but with problems?

i have upgraded 9.10 suspect possible problems. first tried network upgrade saturday. followed instructions , got updates 9.04 (i used command line apt-get). launched update manager , clicked on upgrade button. 2+ hour listed time frame went longer , left laptop running while took off few hours (changed power settings protect upgrade).

when got found error message. message did not happened, indicated upgrade failed , once clicked ok restored 9.04. attempted upgrade indicated total size being downloaded on 700 megs.

couple days later thought upgrade cd rom, after downloading primary 9.10 iso image discovered not upgrade cd needed alternate cd. because of time , other projects working on decided wait on downloading alternate iso image.

today decided try network upgrade again. once again got updates (using terminal apt-get commands). there couple files unable update , "dist-upgrade" not update. launched update manager , clicked on upgrade 9.10 button. part way process asked insert 9.10 i386 iso image. new went ahead , inserted main 9.10 iso disk. noticed instead of 700 megs of data, going download bit on 200 megs. assumed because got rest cd. after done computer rebooted. works know of, have noticed boot process slower 9.04 - thought ubuntu said improving further improvements on 9.04. during boot process, sort of splash screen failed message prior booting up.

wondering if need plan wipe out ubuntu partition , install scratch functioning install or if functioning install. realize there not go on looking basic thoughts of have experienced upgrade.

system vista/ubuntu dual boot dell xps m1530 laptop wd 250 gb hd , 2 gigs ram.

no 1 has thoughts or idea's?
