Thread: picture icons and folder icons randomly don't appear in karmic

so after clean install of karmic koala working except 1 minor thing.

scenario:
create new folder on desktop , add dozen pictures it. later restart computer , newly added folder gone. check @ command line , folder still exist , has pictures in it. open nautilus , navigate desktop folder way. folder there. doesn't show on actual desktop. manage appear right clicking on desktop , clicking "clean name" arrange desktop icons. after folder magically appears. thought problem solved. create new folder (this time in folder on desktop) , add more pictures new folder. folder shows up, when navigate folder via nautilus mouse icon shows busy , no pictures (or 1 or two) show , that's it. can still access files command line, won't show in nautilus.

result of upgrading ext4? trouble icons seems happen files or folders created after install. extracted tar'd home folder overtop new home folder after install, of old desktop icons jaunty install on desktop. have problems things created within karmic. ideas? can work around issue because can find need command line if need to, prefer fix it. wife uses machine , she's not on cli am...
