Multiple steppers question

hi all,
i have few queries regarding driving multiple stepper motors (11 of them) individual pololu a4988 drivers , arduino mega. excuse ignorance novice in area.

1/ stepper motors far enough apart wires out of them not run single point drivers be. cabling should use extend stepper motor wiring? run length 40cm (total). should use shielded twisted pair cabling (as have seen suggested in thread)?

2/ 5v supply arduino sufficient logic power supply stepper drivers? if not, how best provide 5v logic power supply whilst keeping ground separate motor supply? (i have read 2 should kept separate avoid ?interference?)

kind regards.

1. yes. sounds possible. twisted ok - doesn't need shield beyond that. clamp long pair of wires in vise , drill , run drill until twist looks right. cut use motor wires.

2. not. measure current 1 requires , multiply number of controllers. 5v power supply polou deliver current, plus extra.
