i on kubuntu hardy kde3 , having fits adobe crash player. can't keep exiting system using power button.
read rseiub couple of years ago , few times since then... lol none of mentioned alt key use, said ctrl+alt+sysrq. of places, read there being difference between alt keys on bug report, , correct 1 right alt... seems sysrq not working on jaunty in x environment.
there preference on ctrl key?
also, instructions wait 'a little while' between key combos... constitutes 'a little while'? know vary machine machine, safe amount wait? 30 seconds? 5 minutes? there such thing waiting long?

usually <alt> + <sysrq>, both kept pressed down @ same time while cycling through r e s u b keys, adequate. 5 seconds between keys plenty or until hard drive activity light goes out.
laptop , non-standard keyboards may require using fn or other keys produce alt-sysreq combination. google "reisub" , you'll find lots of info.
