i having strange permission issues effecting some, not all, packages, log ins , not "permissioning" tools such sudo, gksudo , pkexec.
having problems getting xfe4 working @ log in. figured out , unrelated issue asking now. however, while trying fix tried changing dm lightdm xdm , slim. lightdm can log in no problems. on xdm , slim never login due authentication errors. cam having same issue trying log in rpi though nomachine.
now, have made changes permission through visudo. don't password being inputted automatically. changed permissions standard root permission requiring password , works on things. can gksudo *most* packages, not all. can pkexec programs not all. have not tried su -i root.
stated *most* permissions work. when try gksudo users-admin package opens hangs forever. open w/o gksudo, of course tells me need root permissions. also, can gksudo synaptic, when try pkexec synaptic root "user unauthorized" error.
i'm sure tied , i'm missing basic, i'm stuck.

ok, on further research can see i'm dealing few different issues here:
1) "problem" pkexec not running stuff root not problem. it's b/c there no root account. (solved)
2) users-admin not running correctly root known issue. (solved)
however, supposed start regular user , supposed ask elevated permissions when needed. not ask me elevated permissions , can't work ideas on how fix that?
3) log in issues. *think* these tied together. i'm not sure of cause. can log in locally through lightdm w/ no issues. if change dm authentication errors telling me password no good, when know is. , cannot log in remotely pi through nomachine b/c of authentication errors.
