earlier year made post regarding setting rpi in african classroom provide localised content. major tom told me world possible , work rachel offline , gave hearty shot. whilst commend them (major tom , world possible) efforts didn't fulfil needs of school , surrounding area.
rachel offline great pre-programmed server/content ap. i'm looking way or @ least know if can done rpi connect 2 api (one res-based , other web-based) provided addition services allow users connect 2 online websites through attached wireless 3g or lte dongle. rpi can connect internet updates , sync apis provide access 2 website (don't want facebook used pupils)

understand use pi gateway computers in classroom. want provide specific services, , bit of internet, too.
general advice in area of "parental control".
technically speaking, if use pi dns server students computers, have ability limit number of domains/ip addresses accept resolve. dnsmasq well. opendns can (for pay?) little weak however, because allow whole domains, , not more specific resources.
use http proxy , whitelist, fetch , respond on specific requests. has additional advantage of providing local cache , streamline bandwidth use; have no idea how squid fares on pi, might demanding. more flexible, because authorize urls, , not complete domains w/ dns server.
of course you'd have top setup firewall (i think shorewall provides bearable front-end linux iptables), in order avoid more astute students bypass system , use directly dns server of choice, or make non-proxied web accesses computers.
not underestimate maintenance aspects. whitelisting/blacklisting requires constant updating, relying on trusted 1/3 parties or packaged solution best solution.
