ESP8266 development

i have been having @ state of development on esp8266 front , came across couple of things may or may not of interest.
first off, of lua (nick?) there firmware , handy development board called nodemcu use 1 of these , have access gpio pins make simple stand alone devices wi-fi capability.

for non lua lovers there arduino ide core here allows arduino ide write, compile & upload esp8266 or use full arduino compatible ide esp8266 support here.

hey - post; i'm starting gain interest in these little devices (been following progress since first announced on had last year, though). knew nodemcu , lua - arduino support news me.

i hope community start embrace these boards - need become "standard goto part" wireless comms (and/or become incorporated future arduino boards - or become shield or - there's no reason spend money on current available solutions when there's low cost , easy use solution available instead).
